Activity: Short walks & scenery
3-day Scottish Borders history loop
Trade the busiest Highland roads for Melrose’s abbey, the Eildon Hills and Border towns. Pick one proper walk and leave time for a bakery stop and a riverside pitch.
4-day Argyll & Oban coast
Follow the A83 from Inveraray into Kilmartin’s ancient landscape, then finish with Oban’s harbour food. This mainland trip puts archaeology and small-town stops ahead of ferry logistics.
4-day Perthshire & Cairngorms
Dunkeld’s riverside paths, a bakery breakfast and Loch Morlich’s beach make this a woodland escape. The final sightseeing day includes the drive south to a Perthshire pitch.
4-day Galloway dark skies
Ayrshire coast, Kirkcudbright and the Galloway forest give this trip three different moods. Dark skies are a bonus when the weather cooperates, with a booked forest base and food planned ahead.
5-day Speyside & Cairngorms
Link Perthshire woodland with Aviemore, Grantown and a taste of the Moray coast. Choose a walk and an independent food stop each day, with distillery visits as optional bookings.
6-day Skye via Glenfinnan
Follow the west coast through Glencoe and Glenfinnan, then take the booked Mallaig ferry to Skye. One main island walk leaves room for coffee, parking and the mainland transfer before handback.
7-day North East 250 from Glasgow
From Royal Deeside to north-east fishing towns and Speyside, this is a circuit of changing landscapes and local food. Travel from Renfrew sits outside the official 250-mile loop.
3-day Isle of Arran escape
Base yourself around Brodick and Lochranza for castle grounds, island food and a coastal walk. Arran’s ferry timetable decides whether this works in three hire days or deserves another night.
12-day Grand Scotland loop
A broad Scottish sampler taking in the west coast, Skye, Wester Ross and the Cairngorms. Use the daily choices to keep one worthwhile outing in focus, with a practical Perthshire finish.
Loch Lomond & Glencoe Campervan Route
Two nights away: the first by Loch Lomond, the second beneath Glencoe’s mountains. We’ve kept the route to one village evening, one short woodland walk and a couple of food stops that sit naturally along the A82.
