7 Day Scotland Campervan Route

A week gives you enough time to combine Loch Lomond, Glencoe and Lochaber with either the Isle of Skye or a slower west-coast loop. Keep at least one day flexible for weather.

Days 1โ€“2: Glasgow, Loch Lomond and Glencoe

Start gently, learn the campervan and give the west Highlands time rather than rushing through them.

Days 3โ€“4: Fort William and onward

Explore Lochaber, Glenfinnan or the coast. From here you can decide whether conditions suit continuing to Skye or staying on the mainland.

Days 5โ€“6: Skye or west-coast alternative

If you continue to Skye, avoid building a checklist of every attraction into one day. If weather or bookings make Skye less appealing, Arisaig, Morar and other west-coast stops can produce an equally strong trip.

Day 7: Work back towards Glasgow

Plan the final overnight location around your confirmed return time. A relaxed final leg is better than finishing the holiday with a stressful dash south.

A week lets the route breathe

Seven days is enough to combine Loch Lomond, Glencoe and Lochaber with either Skye or a slower west-coast loop. Treat Skye as an option rather than an obligation: weather, ferry plans, campsite availability and how much driving you actually enjoy should decide the route. Keep the final day deliberately light and position yourself closer to Glasgow the night before hand-back.

Best for: travellers who want a varied week without attempting the full NC500.
