Two nights, with time to get out of the van

Collect in Renfrew at 14:00, settle into Luss for night one, then head through Tyndrum and Rannoch Moor to Glencoe. The main walk is the Lochan Trail, so you can enjoy the glen without making this a mountain-hiking holiday.

Good for: a first campervan trip, a couple’s short break or anyone who wants a walk followed by coffee. The compromise: day three is an early drive back for the noon return. For a slow Glencoe morning, book four days instead.

Your route at a glance

Pink markers show the itinerary’s day areas. Tap a marker for its name, or open the stops in Google Maps. Ferry crossings and road journeys need separate checks for your travel dates.

  1. Renfrew — collection / return
  2. Day 1: Loch Lomond
  3. Day 2: Glencoe

Have another night?

Stay a second night in Glencoe. Use the extra day for the visitor centre and An Torr woodland, then keep the following morning for the return drive. You don’t need to add another destination to make the trip better.

A glimpse of the places

Your 3-day plan:

  1. Day 1: Luss: park up, then walk to the loch
  2. Day 2: Tyndrum to Glencoe: lunch, then the Lochan
  3. Day 3: Breakfast, then back to Renfrew

2 nights away. Open the daily plan below for the food, activity and overnight choices.

Itineraries

Day 1

Luss: park up, then walk to the loch

Renfrew → Luss. Buy tonight’s food before collection, then give yourself time for the 14:00 handover. Head up the A82 to your booked pitch at Luss Caravan & Camp Site.

Once the van is settled, spend the evening around Luss’s cottages, pier and lochshore. Keep this first outing on foot; there’s no need to drive further north tonight.

Eat

The Village Rest is the village food stop. Match your arrival to its service hours; otherwise cook the dinner you brought and save the café stop for the morning.

Sleep

Luss Caravan & Camp Site. We’ve picked it so the first evening stays by the loch, with no second drive after setting up. Confirm the pitch and arrival time when booking.

The small detail: leave the village lanes for walking. Follow the campsite’s vehicle approach rather than trying to drive down to the pier.

Day 2

Tyndrum to Glencoe: lunch, then the Lochan

Luss → Tyndrum → Glencoe. After breakfast, follow the A82 north. Put The Real Food Café in Tyndrum into the plan as your lunch stop before crossing Rannoch Moor. Fish and chips are its speciality; indoor tables are generally walk-in, while takeaway can be ordered ahead.

Continue through the glen. Stop at the Three Sisters viewpoint if a suitable parking space is available, then carry on to Glencoe Lochan’s Lochan Trail. The marked circuit is 1.6 km, with an official allowance of about half an hour. Give it longer for the lochside views. This is the walk we’ve chosen for the trip.

Coffee after the walk

Crafts & Things, Glencoe for coffee and home baking. The craft shop alongside it gives you something to browse if the rain sets in.

Sleep

Glencoe Camping and Caravanning Club Site, by the visitor centre. Book a hardstanding pitch for the campervan: its current site guidance reserves grass pitches for tents.

If it’s pouring: keep the Tyndrum lunch and swap the walk for the Glencoe visitor centre. The Lochan Trail can have surface water after heavy rain. There’s no need to add Glen Etive or an exposed hill walk to rescue the day.

Season: the Club Site lists 27 March–18 October for 2026 and 22 March–18 October for 2027. Outside those dates, this overnight needs a different confirmed pitch.

Day 3

Breakfast, then back to Renfrew

Have breakfast in the van and set off early for the A82 drive south. This morning is for getting home, with fuel and traffic time allowed before the standard noon handback.

Skip another attraction on the way down. If breakfast by the loch and a leisurely stop at Tyndrum are part of the holiday you want, add a fourth hire day rather than squeezing them into the return morning.
